Loren Hopkins

Head Coach and Trainer

Loren Hopkins is the Head Coach and Trainer at Sweetgrass Equestrian. Loren’s passion for horses began at a very young age when her parents enrolled her in riding lessons at a local riding stable. Within a few years, she became a member of the local Pony Club where she participated in a variety of equine disciplines, including eventing, show jumping and Prince Phillip Games. Loren fell in love with the sport of three day eventing and pursued her goal to become a member of the Ontario Young Riders team. In her late teens, Loren represented her province at both the CCI* and CCI** levels through the Young Riders program.

Over the past fifteen years, Loren has focused on improving her dressage training. She spent a number of years under the tutelage of Jill Stedman and one year under David Marcus, during which time Loren came to appreciate the challenge of upper level dressage as she brought her mount, Heyedee, up the levels to FEI Prix St. George. Loren continues to better her dressage skills with the help of her current coach, Tom Dvorak, and is currently competing her very talented mare, Denali, at the FEI levels on the small tour with notable success. Loren plans to continue working toward FEI Grand Prix with Denali and hopes to become a member of the Canadian Equestrian Team in the near future.
