Loren Hopkins

Sweetgrass Equestrian Stable Manager

Loren Hopkins is the Stable Manager and resident trainer at Sweetgrass Equestrian. Loren’s passion for horses began at a very young age when her parents enrolled her in riding lessons at a local riding stable. Within a few years, she became a member of the local Pony Club where she participated in a variety of equine disciplines, including eventing, show jumping and Prince Phillip Games. Loren fell in love with the sport of three day eventing and pursued her goal to become a member of the Ontario Young Riders team. In her late teens, Loren represented her province at both the CCI* and CCI** levels through the Young Riders program.

Over the past fifteen years, Loren has focused on improving her dressage training. She spent a number of years under the tutelage of Jill Stedman and one year under David Marcus, during which time Loren came to appreciate the challenge of upper level dressage as she brought her mount, Heyedee, up the levels to FEI Prix St. George. Loren continues to better her dressage skills with the help of her current coach, Tom Dvorak, and is currently competing her very talented mare, Denali, at the FEI levels on the small tour with notable success. Loren plans to continue working toward FEI Grand Prix with Denali and hopes to become a member of the Canadian Equestrian Team in the near future.

Loren has many years of experience managing stables and takes pride in the quality of care she provides. Each horse under Loren’s care is considered a part of the Sweetgrass family and is treated as though it were her own. Loren has assembled a team of knowledgeable, competent and experienced staff to assist her in delivering high calibre service to all Sweetgrass clients and equine residents.
