Sweetgrass Equestrian 2019 Fall Derby
Looking for a fun outing to end your competition season? Want to get your young horse or rider out one last time? Join us at our Fall Derby!
You’re invited to join us at Sweetgrass Equestrian for our Fall Cross-Country Derby! Courses range from 2’3″ – 3’3″, perfect for horses and riders at a variety of levels looking to get out at the end of the season.
Starting with a few show jumps in the ring, riders will then head out to the cross-country course to tackle some solid obstacles before heading back into the ring and finish over some show jumps. The goal of the derby is to show your horse’s versatility in being able to jump solid, natural obstacles and upright, technical show jumps. The derby will be based on achieving the optimal time, with refusals and rails adding penalty points. The rider with the least penalty points and closest to the optimum time will win!
-Closing Date: October 2nd at midnight
-Time Schedule: 9:00 am derby start, courses open to walk before the start of each division.
-Schooling Rounds: While each competitor can only compete in the derby at one level, schooling rounds are offered to those wishing to ride more than one course throughout the day. Whether you’d like to school your course before your timed round or would like to try the course a level above your competition level, add a schooling round to make your day that much more fun! Coaches can be in the ring to help you during your schooling round but must leave for your derby round.
-Visitors: Visitors looking to watch the derby are always welcome but please leave your dogs at home so there are no distractions for the horses! Bleacher seating facing the show jumping ring is available, or bring your own folding chair. Invite your friends for a fun day out this fall to enjoy some amazing riding!
